I don’t usually post these types of things, but seeing as we’ve had a three day weekend and this time has been so lovely with my boy, Matthew, it is impossible not to share and want to look back on this.
This weekend was ANZAC weekend, if you don’t know what ANZAC is, it is a day that falls on the 25th of April. Anzac Day was originally to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I. This year was special as it was the 100th anniversary and fell on a Saturday this year, so we also had a public Holiday on the Monday as well, giving us a nice little break!
We spent our time off mountain bike riding, eating out, shopping and generally chilling. Such a chill weekend was a great relief after a busy last few weeks. The photos may not be perfect, as I was not expecting to document our Monday lunch date out and did so with my iPhone- but I’m sure you’ll get the gist of how lovely our date was. The last day of our holiday turned out to be wet, rainy and dreary, something I love- but Matthew does not. We took it upon ourselves to go out for a late lunch at a little place on the edge of town that I’d been wanting to go for some time, The Office, and let me tell you- it did not disappoint.
I decided that I would ditch the gluten free diet and indulge on this rainy day, having the pumpkin and ricotta tortilini with baked bacon and “salad greens” as well as my usual Cappuccino. Matthew had the usual Chicken Sandwich (which I found to be divine and wished I had ordered instead) It had the most tasty Fig and Pear Relish that I am determined to make. I’ve had a bit of a bout of chutney/relish making, my latest concoction being Spiced Quince Chutney- recipe anyone?
I’ve been trying to capture memories with Matthew as we forget in the moment. Capturing these moments is hard to do without him flipping the bird, hence the zoomed in images featured here- He always manages to sneak it in there, so here’s my payback b****.
