If you read my last post you will know that right now I am not very well. My digestive system is the most sensitive it has ever been. I just can’t seem to get it to settle down. There are five things that I have incorporated into my diet that seem to be keeping my body at peace right now. I hope these 5 things can help you too.
Tumeric is my go to spice. Usually I would gravitate towards the chilli and paprika, but right now I don’t even want to look at what they may do to my system. Turmeric is going into my smoothies, on my veggies and chicken and any other way I can think to use it. I’m even considering buying a Turmeric latte mix! Turmeric is the anti inflammatory of all anti inflammatories. It boosts the immune system, eases stomach acid, helps metabolism and assists with the healing process.
Water is obviously a staple for everyone, drinking water should come as naturally as breathing but for some reason it is not for me. I struggle with the water department and I have to make a conscious effort to drink. There are definitely major improvements to my overall wellbeing when I drink 2 litres of water per day.
Tropeaka Ultra Cleanse
This has been an ultimate life saver. I add this to my smoothies daily and it seems to keep my stomach happy. This detox solution helps with replenishing, repairing and renewing the body. It includes a mix of Wheatgrass, Garley Grass, Bentonite “healing” Clay and Spirulina. It may taste a bit “green” but it definitely is a winner in my book.
Moving, stretching and bending is usually the last thing I want to be doing when I have an upset stomach. I think most would agree. After being back in New Zealand for a week I can no longer pass off my lack of activity to jet lag and yoga is a gentle way to return my activity levels back to normal. Yoga is great at the best of times but a daily sequence is something I have been aiming for. Shona Vertue’s flexibility sequence certainly helps me to things get moving!
I try to limit my intake of processed food as much as possible, lately I haven’t had any. Bloating is a serious thing for me so I want to give my body as much help with breaking foods down as I can. Using fresh, whole ingredients aids this and I make sure to always have some form of protein prepped in the fridge waiting for me to whip up a quick, satisfying meal.
